Asian stocks fell Tuesday, tracking US shares lower as President Donald Trump's pledge to impose tariffs on trading partners raised the spectre of a trade war hitting global economic growth.

Tepid economic data and levy of tariffs by the US on its top trading partners led to benchmark indices on Wall Street witnessing their biggest single-day drop of 2025 on Monday.

At present, the BSE Sensex is trading 343 points lower and NSE Nifty is trading 120 points lower.

SBI and ICICI Bank among the top gainers today.

NTPC and ONGC on other hand are among the top losers today.

The BSE Midcap index is trading 0.8% lower and the BSE Smallcap index are trading 0.6% lower.

Sectoral indices are trading on negative note today with stocks in IT sector, realty sector and oil & gas sector witnessing selling pressure.

The rupee is trading at Rs 87.4 against the US dollar.
 

RBL Bank's New Leadership

Private sector lender RBL Bank appointed Narendra Agrawal as president and head of branch banking and retail liabilities on Monday, and T S Pari as chief operations officer (COO).

Agrawal has over 25 years of experience across deposits, lending, distribution, and payments. He brings a strong track record of scaling businesses and driving profitable growth through a digital-first approach.

Agrawal will focus on deposit growth, enhancing customer experience through an omnichannel strategy, and strengthening the business's contribution to the lender's long-term plan.

Pari, who has more than 25 years of experience in leadership roles across foreign and private sector banks, will be responsible for driving efficiencies, customer centricity, and strengthening risk management practices in core business operations.

He will report to Alok Rastogi, head of the corporate centre, who will continue to lead the bank's overall operations, customer service, and corporate centre functions, with an expanded focus on the bank's transformation programme around cost optimisation, process simplification, and strengthening control mechanisms.

Adani Green Energy Refinances Loan

Adani Green Energy has refinanced its maiden construction facility, which had an outstanding debt of USD 1.06 billion, with long-term financing, according to a regulatory filing on Monday. This marks the first significant fundraising effort by the Adani Group since the US Department of Justice (DOJ) indicted several top executives, including Chairman Gautam Adani.

The company stated that it successfully refinanced the US$ 1.06 billion construction facility secured in 2021 for developing India's largest solar-wind hybrid renewable cluster in Rajasthan.

The newly raised long-term financing has a door-to-door tenor of 19 years with a fully amortized debt structure, aligning with the asset's lifecycle.

Adani Green Energy highlighted that this refinancing completes its capital management program for the asset portfolio, ensuring long-term funding that aligns with the cash flow lifecycle.

The framework of the program allows access to diverse capital pools, facilitating large-scale, long-duration funding. However, the company did not specify whether the funds were raised through a loan or dollar bonds.

Previously, Adani Green had shelved its planned US$ 600 m bond issuance in November 2024 following the DOJ's indictment of key executives, including Chairman Gautam Adani, on alleged bribery charges.

The DOJ accused them of orchestrating payments to Indian government officials to secure solar energy contracts.
