RVNL Wins Kavach Contract

State-owned Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) on Monday (10 February) said it has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a Rs 3.4 bn contract from South Western Railway.

GAIL India plans to acquire a stake in a US liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant or secure long-term LNG supply contracts following the Trump administration's decision to lift the ban on export permits for new projects.

He added that the company would finalize its approach after conducting a tendering process for long-term LNG purchases.

As the world's fourth-largest LNG importer, India aims to increase the share of gas in its energy mix from 6.2% to 15% by 2030, with GAIL leading as the country's top gas distributor.

The company had previously stalled its 2023 plan to acquire up to a 26% stake in a US LNG plant after then-President Joe Biden paused approvals for new export projects.

Gupta further noted that global LNG prices could ease post-2026 as additional supply comes online from new projects in the US and other regions.
