Sensex Today Trades Higher; Nifty Above 25,100

Shares in Asia climbed after another strong performance on Wall Street, with stocks hitting fresh record highs. Oil dropped as concerns eased about Israel attacking Iranian energy facilities.Benchmark indexes were up in Australia and Japan, and US futures advanced slightly.

US stocks rose on Monday to add to their all-time high s, as investors focused on earnings and economic data later in the week.

At present, the BSE Sensex is trading 177 points higher and NSE Nifty is trading 45 points higher.

BPCL, Infosys and Britannia among the top gainers today.

ONGC, Nestle and Hindalco the other hand are among the top losers today.

Broader markets are trading on mixed. The BSE Midcap index is trading 0.3% higher and the BSE Smallcap index are trading 0.6% higher.

Barring metal sector, all other sectoral indices are trading higher today with stocks in media sector and IT sector witnessing most buying.

The rupee is trading at Rs 84.07 against the US dollar.

In commodity markets, gold prices are trading 0.1% lower at Rs 75,984 per 10 grams today.
 

HCL Tech Q2 Results

HCL Technologies' consolidated net profit fell 0.52% to Rs 42.4 bn in Q2 FY25 compared with Rs 42.6 bn in Q1 FY25.

Revenue from operations increased 2.9% YoY to Rs 288.6 bn during the quarter.

On a year-on-year (YoY) basis, the company's net profit and revenue for Q2 FY25 are higher by 10.5% and 8.2%, respectively.

EBIT stood at 53.6 bn in Q2 FY25, up 11.8% QoQ and 8.7% YoY. EBIT margin was 18.6% for Q2 FY25 as compared with 17.1% in Q1 FY25 and 18.5% in Q2 FY24.

In dollar terms, the IT firm's revenue for the period under review was US$ 34.5 million (m) in Q2 FY25, down 1.6% QoQ and up 6.8% YoY. In constant currency (cc) terms in the September 24 quarter, revenue jumped 1.6% QoQ and 6.2% YoY.

The total contract value (TCV) of new deal wins was US$ 2,218 m at the end of the September 2024 quarter.

Total people count stood at 218,621 in Q2 FY25, down 0.36% QoQ and 1.14% YoY.

LTM attrition rate was at 12.9% for Q2 FY25 as against 12.8% for Q1 FY25 and 14.2% for Q2 FY24.

The board of HCL Tech has declared an interim dividend of Rs 12 per equity share for the financial year 2024-25. The record date is fixed on 22 October 2024 and the dividend will be paid on 30 October 2024.

Reliance Industries Q2 Profit Jumps 9%

Reliance Industries Ltd's fiscal second-quarter net profit rose 9.4% from the preceding three months to Rs 165.6 bn, beating analysts' expectations, driven by robust growth in its telecom and retail businesses.

Revenue from operations for India's most valuable company stood at Rs 2.4 trillion (tn) in the quarter ended 30 September, compared with Rs 2.3 tn a quarter ago.

RIL said that the telecom unit Jio's monthly ARPU (average revenue per user) grew by a strong 7.4% year-on-year to Rs 195.1.

The company said that the full impact of the tariff hike will be felt in the next 2-3 quarters. Further, Jio strengthened its leadership in 5G with 148 million subscribers upgrading to a faster service. This segment contributes 34% of Reliance Jio's wireless data traffic.

Jio Platforms, which houses RIL's digital services businesses, reported a record quarterly profit of Rs 65.4 bn.

Reliance Retail Ventures reported a profit after tax of Rs 29.4 bn for the September quarter, up almost 20% from a quarter ago.

Revenue for the company's oil-to-chemicals (02C) business for the quarter grew by 5.1% to Rs 1.6 tn, from Rs 1.4 tn in the year-ago period.

He added that in the September quarter, both polymer and polyester demand was down.
 

JSW Infrastructure Receives LOI

JSW Infrastructure's share price will remain in focus on October 15 after the company receives a Letter of Intent (LOI) from Maharashtra Maritime Board to develop a weather & multipurpose port in Palghar, Maharashtra.

The company has received a Letter of Intent from the Maharashtra Maritime Board for the development, operation, management and maintenance of an all-weather and multipurpose port at village Murbe in the Palghar district of Maharashtra on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis - design, built, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) model.

The LOI is valid for 24 months, s, with a further extension clause, which is subject to fulfilment of the terms and conditions stipulated therein.

The royalty payable is based on per metric ton which will be escalated in the block period of 5 years.
