Sensex Today Trades Higher; Nifty Above 23,200
Asian shares were mostly falling Wednesday, shaken by jitters over what President Donald Trump will announce about tariffs on what he referred to as "Liberation Day."
US stocks rose on Tuesday amid worries about President Donald Trump's reciprocal tariffs.

At present, the BSE Sensex is trading 219 points higher, and the NSE Nifty is trading 50 points higher.
Trent, Zomato, and ONGC are among the top gainers today.
HUL, NTPC, and HCL Tech, on the other hand, are among the top losers today.
The BSE Midcap index is trading 0.1% lower, and the BSE Smallcap index is trading 0.4% lower.
Sectoral indices are trading mixed today, with stocks in the banking sector and IT sector witnessing buying. Meanwhile, stocks int he power sector and metal sector are witnessing selling pressure.
The rupee is trading at Rs 85.7 against the US dollar.
SJVN Green completes Bikaner Solar Trial
SJVN Green Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN Ltd., has successfully completed the trial run of 241.77 MW in Phase I of the 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project.
The company will commence commercial operations for this capacity on Wednesday, while the full project is slated for completion by September 30, as per an exchange filing on Tuesday.
Once fully operational, SGEL will supply solar power to Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand, contributing significantly to India's goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. The project also aligns with SJVN's long-term vision of reaching 25,000 MW by 2030 and 50,000 MW by 2040.
Additionally, in March, SJVN signed an MoU with the Chhattisgarh government to develop a 1,800 MW pumped storage project in Kotpali, with an estimated investment of Rs 95 billion.
Tata Motors Sees Flat March Sales
Tata Motors recorded domestic sales of 90,500 units in March 2025, nearly unchanged from 90,822 units in March 2024. Passenger vehicle (PV) sales, including electric vehicles (EVs), grew by 3% to 51,872 units, while commercial vehicle (CV) sales declined by 3% to 41,122 units.
For FY2024-25, the automaker's total sales dropped 4% to 9,12,155 units from 9,49,015 units in FY24. The PV segment saw a 3% decline to 5,56,263 units, down from 5,73,495 units in the previous year, while CV sales fell 5% to 3,76,903 units from 3,95,845 units in FY24.
Shailesh Chandra, MD of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, projected that India's passenger vehicle market would grow by 2% to 4.3 million units in FY25. However, he cautioned that new truck cabin air conditioning regulations could impact vehicle prices.
Swiggy Receives Tax Demand Notice
On Tuesday, the food and grocery delivery platform Swiggy said it received an assessment order with an additional tax demand of over Rs 158 crore for the period between April 2021 and March 2022.
The order has been issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Income-tax, Central Circle 1 (1), Bangalore.
It relates to alleged contraventions including cancellation charges paid to merchants disallowed under Section 37 of the Income-tax Act 1961 and interest income on income tax refund not being offered to tax.
The company believes that it has strong arguments against the order and is taking necessary steps to protect its interests through review/appeal, it added.
The company said the order has no major adverse impact on its financials and operations.
KEC International Secures New Order
KEC International announced on April 1 that it has secured new orders worth Rs 12.4 bn across multiple business segments.
The transmission and distribution division received transmission line and substation orders from the UAE and Kuwait, along with a substation contract from a private TBCB player in India. The civil business secured an order for a residential project from a private developer in western India.
Additionally, the transportation segment won an order for the Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) under the 'Kavach' initiative, while the cables division received orders for various types of cables in both domestic and international markets.
Managing Director and CEO Vimal Kejriwal highlighted that the UAE order has strengthened KEC's presence in the Middle East substation market. He noted that with these wins, the company's total order intake for FY25 has reached a record Rs 246 bn, marking a 36% increase over the previous year.
