Sensex Today Trades Higher; Nifty Above 23,150
Asian markets traded higher on Wednesday after a mixed session on Wall Street overnight.
Japan's Nikkei 225 rose 0.75%, while the Topix gained 0.86%.
US stock market ended Tuesday's volatile session mixed as investors gauged softer-than-expected wholesale inflation data.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rallied 221.2 points, or 0.5%, to 42,518.3, while the S&P 500 rose 6.7 points, or 0.1%, to 5,842.9.

At present, the BSE Sensex is trading 144 points higher and NSE Nifty is trading 16 points higher.
L&T, NTPC, and Coal India are among the top gainers today.
Axis Bank, Apollo Hospital, and Bajaj Finance hand are among the top losers today.
The BSE Midcap index is trading 0.2% lower and the BSE Smallcap index is trading 0.3% higher.
Sectoral indices are trading mixed today with stocks in the ower sector, the auto sector and the energy sector witnessing buying. Meanwhile, stocks in the realty sector and FMCG sector witnessing selling pressure
The rupee is trading at Rs 86.53 against the US dollar.
In commodity markets, gold prices are trading 0.3% higher at Rs 78,350 per 10 grams today.
Adani Green Energy Commission New Project
Adani Green Energy is set to capture market attention on Wednesday, 15 January, following the announcement by Adani Renewable Energy Forty-Eight Limited, a step-down subsidiary of Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), regarding the commissioning of a 57.2 MW wind power component within its wind-solar hybrid project at Khavda, Gujarat.
This development boosts AGEL's total operational renewable energy generation capacity to an impressive 11,666.1 MW, as detailed in a regulatory filing.
Power generation from the plant is scheduled to commence on 15 January 2025, upon receiving the necessary clearances.
The wind power addition is part of AGEL's broader strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

L&T Launches Second Multi-Purpose Vessel
Infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has launched the second multi-purpose vessel for the Indian Navy from its Kattupalli Shipyard near Chennai.
The launch of the vessel, christened INS Utkarsh, comes within three months of the launch of the first MPV INS Samarthak.
The first vessel is being readied for undergoing tests and trials prior to its delivery to the Indian Navy.
The multi-purpose vessels (MPVs) are highly specialised and play multiple roles, including serving as trial platforms, for the development of next generation weapons and sensors.
They will perform maritime surveillance, humanitarian assistance, combat sea pollution, besides taking up launch and recovery of surface and aerial assets, etc.
The design engineering of the MPVs has been undertaken at L&T's in-house warship design centre at Chennai and the construction is accomplished at the company's Katupalli Shipyard.
Hindustan Zinc Faces Penalty
Vedanta Group company Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL) on Tuesday (14 January) said it has been levied penalties totalling Rs 925.5 million (m) by the Deputy Commissioner of State Tax, Udaipur.
The penalties, amounting to Rs 411.1 m for FY 2018-19 and ?51.45 crore for FY 2019-20, are accompanied by a tax demand and applicable interest.
The dispute pertains to the input tax credit under Section 17(5) of the GST law.
The orders were issued on 13 January 2025, and received by the company on the same day.
The company plans to appeal the orders before the Appellate Authority within the timeframe prescribed under GST regulations.
Premier Energies Shares in Focus
Premier Energies Ltd. shares will be in focus after the company on Tuesday, 14 January, said three of its subsidiaries have received multiple orders worth Rs 14.6 bn for the supply of solar PV cells and modules.
The subsidiaries, Premier Energies Global Environment, Premier Energies International and Premier Energies Photovoltaic, have received orders from two large independent power producers and others.
Of these, orders worth Rs 10.4 bn are for solar modules and Rs 4.2 bn are for solar cells.
The supply of the modules and cells is set to commence from May 2025.
Last month, the company's board approved the establishment of a 1 GW solar photovoltaic TOPCon Module manufacturing facility in EMC Maheeshwaram, Telangana.
The facility will be established on leasehold premises owned by the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation and is likely to be completed by March 2025.
