State-owned oil explorer Oil India and refiner Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) have formalised the creation of a joint venture company (JVC) to develop a gas distribution network in Arunachal Pradesh.

The venture will establish Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations across the state and provide Piped Natural Gas (PNG) supply to domestic, commercial and industrial consumers. Both companies will hold an equal 50% stake in the project, following BPCL's board approval in October last year.

With the completion of the 12/12A CGD round, PNGRB has authorised entities to develop CGD networks in 307 geographical areas, covering nearly the entire mainland for natural gas distribution.
