TPREL Powering India's Clean Energy Future

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has commissioned a 198 MW wind power project for Tata Steel in Karur, Tamil Nadu, under the Group Captive model. It is one of the largest wind projects of its kind in India.

The project includes 55 wind turbines of 3.6 MW each and will generate about 31 million units of clean electricity annually. It will help Tata Steel reduce emissions by around 26,350 tonnes of CO2 every year.

TPREL executed the entire project using a self-EPC model, handling engineering, construction, and transmission work in-house. Despite challenges such as hard rock conditions and logistics, the project was completed at record speed, with foundations finished in 126 days and turbine installation completed in 167 days.

With this project, TPREL's total renewable utility capacity has reached 11.6 GW, of which 6.2 GW is operational. The company continues to play a key role in India's clean energy transition and Tata Power's goal of achieving 100% clean energy by 2045.

IRB Advances Capital Recycling and Growth

IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd., India's largest toll road developer, has completed the transfer of its Gandeva-Ena (VM7) HAM project to the IRB InvIT Fund. The company has received Rs 5.13 billion (bn) in cash for its equity stake in the VM7 project special purpose vehicle.

The transaction follows IRB's long-term strategy of bidding, executing, stabilizing, and then transferring mature assets. This move allows the company to recycle capital, optimize its portfolio, and unlock value from completed projects. The funds received will support future growth initiatives in the infrastructure sector.

As a result of this asset transfer, IRB's consolidated debt is expected to be reduced by around Rs 7 bn, improving the company's liquidity and balance sheet strength.

The Gandeva-Ena HAM project is an eight-lane, revenue-generating stretch of the New Delhi-Mumbai Greenfield Expressway in Gujarat. It is part of Package VII under the Bharatmala Pariyojana and was awarded by the National Highways Authority of India. The project is operated by VM7 Expressway Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of IRB Infrastructure Developers.
