Sensex Today Ends 388 Points Higher; Nifty Above 26,010

After opening the day higher, the benchmark indices continued their upward momentum, ended the session in green.

Indian equity market indices Sensex and Nifty settled in green on Monday, driven by gains in public sector banks and consumer durable stocks. Additionally, NDA's win in the Bihar elections 2025 and stock-specific action post earnings also lifted the investor sentiment.

At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed higher by 388 points (up 0.4%).

Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty closed 103 points higher (up 0.4%).

Eternal, M&M, and Kotak Mahindra are among the top gainers today.

Asian Paints, Tata Steel, and TCS, on the other hand, were among the top losers today.

The GIFT Nifty was trading at  26,030 at 68 points higher at the time of writing.

The BSE MidCap index ended 0.6% higher, and the BSE SmallCap index ended 0.6% higher.

Sectoral indices are trading positively today, with stocks power sector and the auto sector witnessing buying.

The rupee is trading at Rs 88.7 against the US$.

Gold prices for the latest contract on MCX are trading 0.2% lower at Rs 123,2 p84er grams.

Meanwhile, silver prices were trading 0.1% lower at Rs 155,883 per 1 kg.
 

SpiceJet Plans Liability Restructure Boost Shares

Moving on to the news from airlines sector, shares of SpiceJet jumped 7% after the airline said it expects to restructure a significant portion of its liability in the upcoming quarters, thereby helping strengthen its balance sheet.

According to its investor presentation, SpiceJet anticipates that by the end of 2025, its operational fleet will have doubled, allowing for a significant increase in network reach and scale. To support triple-digit revenue growth in the upcoming quarter, the airline predicted that ASKM would nearly triple.

According to SpiceJet, increased capacity and better aircraft utilisation should significantly lower CASK and increase overall profitability. To strengthen the balance sheet, it further stated that liability restructuring is still in progress, with a sizable amount anticipated to be settled in the third and fourth quarters.

In addition to doubling its operational fleet and nearly tripling its Available Seat Kilometres (ASKM) by the end of 2025, the airline stated that it hopes to restore up to eight of its grounded Boeing aircraft to service by April 2026.

NHAI Awards IRB InvIT Major Corridor Project

Moving on to the news from construction sector, shares of IRB Infrastructure came into focus received an award letter from NHAI for the TOT-17 project. This project includes 366 km of highways across the Lucknow-Ayodhya-Gorakhpur and part of the Lucknow-Varanasi corridors. The trust will operate the roads under a revenue-linked contract for 20 years.

According to the filing, the Trust will pay an upfront Bid Concession Fee of Rs 92.7 bn to NHAI for revenue-linked concession period of 20 years.

IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd (IRB) is a major international company that builds and manages roads and highways. It is the largest private toll road developer in India. The company has assets worth over Rs 800 bn across 12 states, through its main business and two InvITs, not counting the TOT-17 project.
 

V2 Retail Q2 Results

Moving on to the news from retail sector, shares of V2 Retail came into focus after the company reported its Q2 FY26 results.

Its operating revenue increased by 86% to Rs 7.08 bn from Rs 3.8 bn. Its EBITDA was Rs 0.85 bn, compared to Rs 0.33 bn in the previous year.

The company had 259 locations as of September 30, 2025, totalling 27.94 lac square feet of retail space. In the second quarter of FY26, the company opened 43 stores.

In Q2, V2 Retail reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 0.17 bn, as compared to a net loss of Rs 0.1 bn a year ago.
