Sensex Today Ends 275 Points Lower; Nifty Below 25,800
Although the benchmark indices opened lower, they traded negatively throughout the session and ultimately closed red.
Indian equity benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty, ended lower on Wednesday ahead of the US Federal Reserve's monetary policy decision later today.
At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex closed lower by 275 points (down 0.3%).
Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty closed 81 points lower (down 0.3%).
Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, and ITC are among the top gainers today.
Eternal, Trent, and Bharti Airtel, on the other hand, were among the top losers today.
The GIFT Nifty was trading at 25,83 higher at the time of writing.
The BSE MidCap index ended 1% lower, and the BSE SmallCap index ended 0.6% lower.
Sectoral indices are trading negatively today, with stocks in the telecom sector and realty sector witnessing selling pressure.
The rupee is trading at Rs 89.9 against the US$.
Gold prices for the latest contract on MCX are trading 0.2% lower at Rs 129,829 per gram.
Meanwhile, silver prices were trading 1% higher at Rs 190,000 per 1 kg.
Zydus Lifesciences Expands Biosimilar Portfolio
In the news from healthcare sector, shares of Zydus Lifesciences Ltd. rose nearly 2% on Wednesday after the company announced two key developments to expand its biosimilar portfolio and improve access to advanced therapies.
Its UAE subsidiary has partnered with Formycon AG to exclusively license and supply FYB206, a biosimilar of Keytruda (pembrolizumab), for the US and Canadian markets. Formycon will handle development, regulatory approvals, manufacturing, and supply, while Zydus will manage commercialization in these regions.
A US FDA application is expected soon, aiming to make immunotherapy more affordable and accessible.
GPT Infra Rallies on Lowest Bidder
Shares of GPT Infraprojects rose after the company became the L1 (lowest) bidder for a Rs 1.9 billion (bn) order.
The contract includes building the foundations and main structures for Bridge No. 247 and Bridge No. 287 (each 10x61 m), as well as performing launching works. It also involves constructing a Double-D type well foundation for a double rail line over the Rapti River, designed to carry 25-tonne axle loads, as part of the Khalilabad-Bahraich section of the Northeastern Railway.
Founded in 1980, GPT Infraprojects is the main company of the Kolkata-based GPT Group, operating in Infrastructure and Sleeper segments.
HUDCO Issues NCD To Raise Funds
HUDCO said its Bond Allotment Committee will meet on December 12 to approve and allot unsecured, taxable, redeemable, non-convertible debentures (NCDs) with a face value of ?1 lakh each.
The total issue size will be up to Rs 25 bn and will be issued through private placement.
This comes after the company's board approved raising up to Rs 650 bn via bonds and debentures for FY2025-26.
The proposed Series-E 2025 NCDs will have a tenure of 7 years, maturing on 12 December 2032. These debentures are unsecured and form part of the company's senior debt. They will be issued through an online private bidding process on the BSE EBP platform.
The issue consists of a base size of Rs 5 bn, with an option to increase up to Rs 20 bn if there is oversubscription, bringing the total potential issue size to Rs 25 bn. The funds will be used for business and operational needs.

Graphite India Inks Kivoro Graphene Deal
Graphite India Ltd (GIL) has signed an exclusive partnership with Spain-based Kivoro to distribute its graphene-based Heat Transfer Additive (HTA) in India. GIL will be the sole distributor, targeting corrugated paperboard manufacturers.
The partnership aims to use Graphite India's network to promote the adoption of advanced thermal additives across Indian corrugated production lines.
Kivoro's HTA improves heat transfer efficiency in corrugator plants, allowing faster machine speeds, lower steam use, better board quality, and cost savings. Siddhant Bangur, Business Development Executive at Graphite India said the deal aligns with the company's strategy to bring innovative industrial solutions to India.
Using HTA can help corrugator plants achieve higher production, shorter start-up times, fewer defects, and more consistent board quality.
