Daily Stock Review: Sapiens International (SPNS)
I'm now looking for a second technology sector representative for my new Ivy portfolio.
That technology sector has nineteen industries ranging from communication equipment, computers, consumer electronics, and contract manufacturing, to health, information technology and services, to internet, scientific instruments, software, solar, and all such techno-marvels.
Today I'm reviewing a small-cap software infrastructure firm, named Sapiens International Corp. NV. Its trading ticker symbol is SPNS.
Sapiens International Corporation N.V. provides software solutions for the insurance and financial services industries in North America, Europe, the Asia Pacific, and South Africa.
The company offers a software platform and solutions for life, pension, and annuities, and personal, commercial and specialty lines, and workers' compensation. It also provides Digital Engagement, a digital insurance suite to agents, customers, and insurance personnel.
In addition, the company offers reinsurance software solutions, financial and compliance solutions; and, an enterprise-scale decision management solution.
Further, it provides technology-based solutions and offers program delivery, business transformation, and managed services.
It markets and sells its products and services through direct and partner sales. The company was founded in 1982 and is headquartered in Holon, Israel.
I use three key data points to gauge the value of any dividend equity-like Sapiens International Corp. NV (SPNS ) :
(1) Price
(2) Dividends
(3) Returns
Besides those three, several other keys will finally unlock equity or fund in which to invest.
Those first three primary keys, however, best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.
SPNS Price
Sapien's price per share closed at $11.87 yesterday. A year ago its price was $12.28. So the price sank just $0.41 per share last year, or 3.3%.
Assuming Sapien's stock trades in the range of $8 to $14 next year, Sapien's recent $11.87 price could move up by $0.13 and grow to $12.00 by mid-January, 2020.
SPNS Dividends
Sapien's most recent annual dividend was $0.20 declared September 20th and paid October 30th.
That $0.20 annual payout yields 1.68% at yesterday's $11.87 closing price.
Gains For SPNS?
Adding the $0.20 annual estimated dividend to my estimated $0.13 annual price upside estimate for Sapiens International Corp. NV (SPNS) shows a $0.33 potential gross annual gain, per share, which will be reduced by costs to trade those shares.
Just under $1,000.00 invested today at the $11.87 recent price would buy us 84 SPNS shares.
A $10 broker fee paid half at purchase and half at sale costs $0.12 per share.
Subtract that $0.12 brokerage cost from the estimated $0.33 gross annual gain leaves a net gain of $0.21 X 84 shares = $17.64 for about 1.77% net gain on a $997.09 investment.
Therefore, Sapiens International Corp. NV whose trading ticker symbol is SPNS, now shows a possible 1.87% net gain including a 1.68% dividend yield.
Five brokers cover this stock:
One says "buy' SPNS shares.
One expects SPNS stock to "Outperform" peers.
Two say "hold" your SPNS shares, and One expects SPNS stock to "Underperform" peers.
Therefore, you can look at Sapiens International Corp. NV (SPNS) and see it has made money, is making money, and could rise to net a 1.87% annual gain including that 1.67% estimated dividend yield. It could be more, it could be less.
The above speculation is based on past year performance. The actual results remain to be seen to determine if Sapiens International Corp. NV (SPNS) is worth your time and money.
