Bayer Backs Healthy Humans, Critters, & Crops

Every New York stock exchange trading day I'm posting a daily dividend stock or fund review. I'll share the three chief qualities of just one equity or fund that could be selected for a dividend stock portfolio I've named the Safari to Sweet Success.

This week my Safari portfolio is open to a company from the Healthcare sector.

The Healthcare sector includes ten industries all related to testing, diagnosing and treating what ails us. The healthcare industries are: biotechnology; diagnostics & research; drug manufacturers - major and- specialty & generic; healthcare plans; long-term care facilities; medical care; medical devices, medical distribution; medical supplies.

Today I'm reviewing a drug manufacturer - major. It's a large-cap stock, Bayer Aktiengesellschaft. Its trading ticker symbol is BAYRY

Bayer AG is active in the German healthcare sector. Healthcare provides close to half of the company's sales and includes pharmaceutical drugs as well as vitamins and animal health products.

A Crop Science segment offers crop protection products, seeds, non-agriculture pest control products. The Animal Health segment develops and markets products and solutions for the prevention and treatment of disease in companion and farm animals to vets, farmers, and pet-owners.

The company was founded in 1863 and is headquartered in Leverkusen, Germany.

Three key data points measure dividend equities or funds likeBayer AG:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

BAYRY Price

Bayer AG's price at yesterday's market close was $28.98 per share.A year ago its price was $28.38. That is a gain of $0.60 per share in the past year.

Assuming Bayer AG's price gains at the same pace this year, its price would grow from $28.98 to $29.58 by March 2019.

BAYRY Dividends

Bayer AG's most recent annual dividend was $0.74 declared in April, and paid in May.

The Bayer AG annual dividend for 2018 is estimated at $0.74 to be paid in May.

The yield from that $0.74 annual dividend was 2.55% at yesterday's $28.98 share price.

Gains For BAYRY?

Adding the $0.74 annual dividend to the $0.60 estimated price gain makes a $1.34 projected gross annual gain, to cover any cost to trade those shares.

Say $1,000.00 was invested at yesterday's $28.98 price. That trade bought 35 shares.

A $10 broker fee paid as $5 at purchase and $5 at sale of the shares equals about $0.29 in cost per share Subtracting that $0.29 brokerage cost from the estimated $1.34 gross gain leaves a net gain to next year of $1.05 X 35 shares = $36.75 or a 3.5% net gain on a $1,014.30 investment.

Therefore, Bayer AG (whose ticker symbol is BAYRY), now shows a possible 3.5% net gain including a 2.55% dividend yield.

NO analysts cover this stock. However, its past year price history shows many peaks and valleys in its generally upward climb in the past fifteen years.

These forward-looking numbers are conjecture based on past year performance. The actual results remain to be seen. They could turn out to be far higher or lower. More study is required for you to determine if Bayer AG (BAYRY) is worth your time and money.
