Daily Stock Pick: Flanigan's Enterprises

TM editors' note: This article discusses a penny stock and/or nanocap/microcap. Such stocks are easily manipulated; do your own careful due diligence.

A portfolio of stocks I've been building since September 3, 2019, named Volio, will eventually hold 52 dividend dogs. Volio is the fifth portfolio I've built (at a one dividend dog per-week pace) since 2014. Five portfolios = V for Volio!

Today I'm reviewing the fifth of five consumer cyclical sector stocks primed to join Volio as the seventh of seven representing the sector.  One of the stocks I discussed this week could be the forty-eighth overall selection for Volio!

My subject today is a nano-cap restaurant company named, Flanigan's Enterprises Inc. Its trading ticker is BDL. This is my first ever report on Flanigan's Enterprises Inc for any Volio portfolio.

Flanigan's Enterprises Inc operates as a chain of small cocktail lounges and packages liquor stores throughout South Florida. Its menu consists of a wide variety of options including prime rib, steaks, pasta, entree salads, burgers, a variety of sandwiches, and oversized signature desserts.

The business activity is principally conducted in two segments namely Restaurant and Package liquor store segment. Its Restaurant segment offers alcoholic beverages and full food service and Package stores consist of retail liquor sales and related items.

The company generates revenue from the sale of food, non-alcoholic beverages, alcoholic beverages, and others.

The company was founded in 1959 and is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

I use three key data points to gauge dividend equities or funds like Flanigan's Enterprises Inc:

(1) Price

(2) Dividends

(3) Returns

Those three basic keys best tell whether a company has made, is making, and will make money.

BDL Price

Flanigan's price per share closed at $14.93 yesterday. A year ago their price was $22.53. Price fell $7.60 or over 33.7% last year.

Assuming Flanigan's stock trades in the range of $8 to $20 this next year, its recent $14.93 price might rise by $1.07 to reach $16.00 by July 31, 2021.

BDL Dividends

Flanigan's most recent declared annual dividend was $0.30, was paid April 3rd. That $0.30 annual dividend yields 2.01% at yesterday's $14.93 share price.

BDL Gains?

Adding the $0.30 annual estimated dividend to my $1.07 optimistic estimate of Flanigan's price upside shows a $1.37 potential gross gain, per share, to be reduced by any costs to trade the shares.

If we put little over $1,000.00 today in Flanigan's Enterprises Inc we would buy 67 shares of BDL stock.

A $10 broker fee paid half at purchase and half at sale could cost us about $0.15 per share.

Subtract that $0.15 brokerage cost from my estimated $1.37 gross gain per share results in a net gain of $1.22 X 67 shares = $81.74 for an 8.15% net gain on a $1,000.31 investment.

Thus, Flanigan's Enterprises Inc shows a possible 8.15% net gain including a 2.01% dividend yield. It could be more, it could be less.

The above speculation is based on past performance and supposition. Only time and money invested will tell if Flanigan's Enterprises Inc is worth it.
