Stocks Start The Week With More Record Closes
The Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq all notched their third-straight record closes to kick off the week, with the blue-chip index paring a triple-digit loss at the open. The small-cap Russell 2000 (RUT) stayed hot as well, marking its second consecutive record close. After some early session choppiness, Nvidia (NVDA) gave the tech sector a boost after announcing a $100 billion investment into OpenAI, while AI peer Oracle (ORCL) surged after a C-suite shakeup. Looking ahead, investors will be eyeing a flood of economic data and Fed speeches this week.
OIL PRICES CONTINUE TO EASE AS GOLD ADDS MORE RECORDS
Oil prices fell for the fourth day after news that Iraq increased oil exports under an Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and allies (OPEC+) agreement. October-dated West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude closed the book down 28 cents, or 0.45%, to $62.64 per barrel.
Fresh off their fifth-straight weekly win, gold futures hit more record highs today. U.S. gold futures for December delivery climbed 1.4% to $3,740.70 per ounce.
