Cannabis Central: Pot Stock Portfolio Plummeted 7.7% Last Week

The munKNEE.com Pure-Play Pot Stock Portfolio continues to perform poorly. It was down 7.7% this past week ending September 26 on the heels of 1.3%, 3.1% and 6.9% declines the previous three weeks, respectively. Only four of the constituents went up and two had no change in price. The winners and losers are as follows:

Major Winners

None of the four stocks that advanced during the week went up in excess of 10%. Medicine Man (SHWZ) went up 5.7%, the only stock to go up in excess of 5%.

Major Losers

Nineteen of the stocks in the portfolio (76%) finished the week down in price with ninr doing so in excess of 10%, namely:

  3. cbdMD (YCBD) -14.0%

  5. Charlotte's Web (CWBHF) -13.5%
  6. Canopy (CGC) -13.4%
  7. Planet 13 (PLNHF) -13.1%
  8. Valens (VLNCF) -10.5%
  9. Tilray (TLRY) -10.3%

The categories are identified below with how they performed given the performance of the stocks in the portfolio that make up each category:

    • the 2 hemp seed-to-sale MSO portfolio participants (CWBHF and YCBD) went down 13.7%, on average.
  2. The Extraction Category has 2 portfolio participants (NEPT and VLNCF) focused on the extraction of cannabis compounds and their infusion into consumer products and they went down 12.7%, on average.
  3. The Consumption Devices Category has only 1 portfolio participant  (GNLN) focused on developing and selling personal consumption devices for cannabis consumers such as vape pens and inhalers and it went down 9.3% vs. -6.2% the previous week and -9.7% the week before that.
  4. The Biotechnology Category has only 1 portfolio participant (AVCNF) which markets new drugs utilizing cannabinoids (CBD) and it went down 14.4%.
