Cannabis Central: Pot Stock Index Advanced Slightly On Friday
The munKNEE Pure-Play Pot Stock Index reversed direction on Friday, going UP 1.8% on Friday vs. DOWN 1.3% on Thursday.16 of the 25 constituents went UP, 9 went DOWN. In addition, all 3 index categories went UP, as well. The winners and losers are as follows:
Index Performance
The Index has companies doing business in a number of different categories and sub-categories based on their primary area of focus in the cannabis industry. These categories are identified below along with those stocks within each category that changed price by 10% or more:
- The Vertically Integrated (i.e. Seed-to-Sale) Category went up 1.8%. The category consists of 22 index constituents that grow, process, and sell cannabis and hemp flower and related products.
- The Canadian Licensed Producer (LPs) Sub-Category went up 2.5% but none of the 7 index constituents within the category changed prices by 5% or more.
- The U.S. Non-Hemp Multi-State Operator (MSOs) Sub-Category went up 0.9% but Jushi (JUSHF), up 5.0%, was the only one of the 13 index constituents that changed price by 5% or more.
- The Hemp Seed-to-Sale MSO Sub-Category went up 10.8% with both index constituents in the category changing in price by 5% or more, namely, Charlotte's Web (CWBHF) up 11.8% and cbdMD (YCBD) up 9.4%.
- The Extraction Category went up 2.7%, This category focuses on the extraction of cannabis compounds and their infusion into consumer products, and 1 of the 2 index constituents within the category changed price by 5% or more, namely, Valens (VLNCF) up 7.8%.
- The Consumption Devices Category went down 1.8%. This category has only one index constituent, Greenlane (GNLN), focused on developing and selling personal consumption devices for cannabis consumers, such as vape pens and inhalers.
