I believe completely getting rid of storage media would be a mistake. As long as you are giving some other company the keys to your media, there is always the risk of it getting hacked or the "digital landlord" to hold your data hostage or sell it. Keeping your own backups is more secure, though it requires more...ahem...work. Just saying...
