In the aftermath of the financial crisis 2008/09 I asked myself how is it that so many Americans could have lost roughly half of their life savings in a matter of months? Could something have been done to make a difference? More importantly, what can one do to prepare themselves for future market events? Flash forward 12 years, I have worked in the industry serving in the capacity of investment research and investment management. currently I work for one of the largest retirement plan firms in the United States. My biggest takeaway is that despite gut wrenching pullbacks, those who have long term objectives with a disciplined approach are often satisfied with their performance. Additionally, there are things which you can and *should* do to get on the path to financial prosperity.
