Understanding Your Bedding Preferences

Date: Tuesday, October 4, 2022 9:42 AM EDT

Stressful times call for better sleep, but good sleep mostly comes with good bedding. With many people around the world investing in new bedding in 2021, how do you choose the right sheets? Also, how should you take care of them?

A few Americans wash their sheets on a regular basis while more than half say they do not have time to change their sheets so often. Experts recommend washing pillowcases and sheets weekly and blankets about every other month. However, 53% of Americans don’t trust these recommendations on changing bedding, even though research shows that people who wash their sheets more often are able to sleep better.

When choosing sheets, it’s a good idea to consider several components including: the material used, quality of the cotton, length of the fibers used to weave the fabric, weave, thread count, ply, sheet size, and the color. Depending on what you choose, the durability, softness, and feel of the sheets can differ. It’s always best to choose what fits your preferences and needs, especially when it comes to helping you sleep better at night.
